DESPITE their growing fixture problems, Chipperfield Corinthians still have three trophies in their sights.

A 3-0 win at Bedmond on Saturday saw Simon Palmer and his men progress in the Aubrey Cup.

They face Colney Heath in the Herts Senior Trophy tomorrow (Saturday) and, with four games in hand on leaders Cuffley, they still have the Premier Division title within reach.

Chipperfield took their chances to punish the lack-lustre finishing of a Bedmond team struggling to cope with suspensions.

"They finished well, capitalising on our sloppy defending, and we weren't clinical at the other end," admitted Bedmond boss Dennis Tracey.

Goals from Terry Donovan and Mark Burfoot put Chipperfield in the driving seat before Greg Pegg made the game safe in the 75th minute, drilling a half-cleared corner into the net with some venom.

"We battled really well," said delighted Chipps manager Palmer. "It was a great team performance, one of our best this season."

Sun Postal beat Elliott Star 7-3 in the Aubrey Cup, but either side could have reached double figures.

"It was a game where either defence looked capable of giving a goal away at any time," said Sun's Tom Barber.

Sun, missing three suspended players, led 4-2 at the break before stretching their lead in the second half.

They even afforded themselves the luxury of failing to score from three one-on-ones after their seventh goal went in.

There was little sign of the second-half nightmare that was about to strike Met Police Bushey as they dominated the first 45 minutes against Cuffley.

A Jamie Darby goal after 35 minutes was scant reward for Police's dominant first-half display, but the change of ends seemed to have a distinctly adverse affect on them.

Once they had conceded two goals in a minute there was no way back, and Cuffley stormed to a 4-1, further enhancing their championship credentials.

"That just about ended our chance of winning the league," said Oxhey Jets' John Elliott after his side needed a Gary Page goal deep into injury-time to earn a 1-1 draw with Kings Langley .

Bricket Wood manager Paul Worrall believes his side can pull away from the Division One basement.

A 2-0 win at Kimpton, where keeper Gary Edwards had a great game in goal, increased his confidence.

"If we can keep this team together and avoid too many injuries, we'll get away from the bottom," said Worrall.

Despite a dominant midfield display from Jerry Avis, Croxley Guild were beaten 2-0 at Codicote.

A series of excellent saves kept Guild out while, at the other end, Codicote made the most of some lucky rebounds and deflections.

"It was probably our best performance of the season," said Guild's Dave McClenaghan.

An own goal within seconds of the restart left Bushey Rangers 3-0 down and without much hope against league leaders Standon and Puckeridge.

"I can't understand how they've not lost a game. They are not outstanding," said Rangers' manager Paul Somers.

Evergreen gained vital promotion points with a 2-1 win at Giffen Wheathampstead, but could easily have ended with nothing.

Stuart Atkins' long-range effort gave Green a 1-0 interval lead, but Giffen rallied to level after the break. The home side created good chances but were punished when John Field won the game for Green late on.

"We could easily have lost it 5-2," admitted Evergreen's Dennis McCrystal.

Bovingdon moved into second but missed the chance to put more points in the bag as they were held 0-0 by Sarratt .

"We really need to start rolling our sleeves up because this was a good chance missed," said Bovingdon's Terry Magee.

Sarratt's Brazillian midfielder Ulysses had a fine game, and manager Mick Gilchrist said: "We restricted them to long-range efforts and could possibly have nicked it."
