A Radlett scout group and a Bushey school were among those to benefit from the latest round of ward initiative grants.

Bushey St James councillor Anita Gamble supported a grant of £527 to Bushey Manor Junior School, in Grange Road, for a new picnic bench.

Age UK was given a grant of £300, used to buy a portable electronic Bingo machine for its drop-in sessions in Borehamwood, Bushey and Potters Bar.

Councillor Gamble and fellow Bushey St James councillor Denise Kieran donated £150 each towards this project.

The 1st Radlett Scout Group received a total grant of £400, for a catering urn and portable electric hob, from Aldenham East councillors Charles Goldstein and John Graham.

And finally, District Headquarters Girlguiding received £400 from councillor Goldstein and councillor Graham to fund a gas urn for camping and outdoor events.

Each member of Hertsmere Borough Council is given £2,000 per year to allocate to community groups or projects within their ward.
