Councillors will visit a Grade II listed building in Watford before approving plans that will allow it to reopen it as a nursing home.

Cascade Care have submitted an application to create nine en-suite bedrooms in block one, and three self-contained units and six en-suite bedrooms at Cassiobury Court, in Richmond Drive.

The company requires listed building consent from Watford Borough Council before making the internal changes. It is then proposed for it to be re-used as a care home.

The building was originally the stable block to Cassiobury House, which was demolished in 1927.

It was used as a riding school in the 1930s following its initial conversion and in 1951, it was turned into a care home.

It has now been vacant for a number of years.

Before consent is approved, councillors agreed to carry out a site visit and asked for more information to address issues raised by residents.

A decision will be made at a future meeting.
