Kings Langley Cricket Club’s junior player George Langston has become the club’s youngest batsman ever to score a century.

The nine-year-old achieved the feat during Hertfordshire under-10’s county match versus Suffolk.

Langston batted the whole way through the Herts innings, eventually running out of partners to finish on 124.

Not only is he the youngest Kings player to score a century but he is the only Hertfordshire under-10 player to reach three figures to date.

Langston’s innings was a faultless exhibition of concentration and technique with a full array of shots, rotating the strike and punishing the loose balls.

A number of other Kings representatives were included in the match and also at other age levels.

Langston’s fellow opener Scott Rolfe hit 28 and the pair raced to an 80 partnership off only ten overs. Later in the innings another King’s junior, Joe Atkins (22) shared a large partnership.

Also in action was David Burnell (27 not out) who top scored for Herts Under-11s against Middlesex.

Langley boast a record seven county players this season with Andrew Burnell (under-17), Joe Cooke (under-15/under-17) and Shandeepan Ratnakuran (under-15) also featured for their respective sides.
