Watford Chess Club’s Dhruv Radhakrishnan and Kian Shah tied for first place in the Under-8 category at the South of England Junior Championships.
A third Watford youngster, Michael Lee, finished fourth in the championship but it was Radhakrishnan and Shah who were the stand-out performers.
Divyesh Bansal finished joint second in the Under-10 competition.
Bansal, who is the reigning Hertfordshire Under-9 champion, performed well at the event but was unable to finish in top spot.
Those results followed on from the London Junior Championships, where Jeff Tomy won the Under-8 event and Adithya Pramod Paleri took both the Under-9 and Under-10 titles.
Pramod Paleri, who is also British champion in his age group, also represented England in the World Schools championships in Brazil last month, where he finished joint sixth.
