Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri admits he was never introduced to former executive chairman Raffaele Riva.
Mazzarri spoke to the media one day after Riva stepped down following the allegations made against the club with chief executive Scott Duxbury taking on his position.
The allegations claim the Hornets submitted a forged bank letter when Gino Pozzo became the sole owner prior to the 2014-15 campaign.
Mazzarri did not want to elaborate on the club’s statement following Riva's resignation and the announcement of Duxbury taking over the position.
The Hornets boss said: “I never met him and never had the pleasure to meet him. I know he was in charge in that position but I never had the pleasure to meet him.
"I always speak inside the club with the owner Gino Pozzo, chief executive Scott Duxbury and sporting director Luke Dowling.”
He continued: “This was all cleared in the club statement. I don’t need to add anything else to that. Anything to add to it wouldn’t be beneficial or give anything else to this matter.”
