Steven Finn has been put on stand-by for England for the third Test against South Africa at The Oval tomorrow.

The Watford-born bowler's call-up comes after it was announced his Middlesex teammate Toby Roland-Jones will make his debut, with Mark Wood ruled out through injury.

The Durham seam bowler missed the final training session today due to an ongoing heel problem, paving the way for Middlesex paceman Roland-Jones to make his first Test outing for England.

England captain Joe Root told a press conference: "Wood is not 100 per cent fit so he's going to miss out this week and Toby Roland-Jones comes in for a debut."

Former Parmiter's School student Finn, who has taken 125 wickets in 36 Test appearances, last played for England in the five-day format of the game in Bangladesh in October 2016.
