Steven Berghuis will imminently move to Feyenoord after the Rotterdam club agreed a £5.8 million deal with Watford to take him to the Netherlands.
After weeks of will-he-won't-he, Berghuis' future has looked likely to be away from Vicarage Road for more than a week with reports in Holland that only discrepancies over a fee were keeping him from being allowed to return to the club where he spent last season on loan.
While at De Kuip, Berghuis helped Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title, scoring eight goals along the way, and made such an impression that the club are willing to make him their second most-expensive ever signing.
Marco Silva said after the Hornets' opening pre-season game at AFC Wimbledon on July 15 he would give Berghuis time to prove himself, but admitted yesterday he only wanted to keep "players who want to be here" when asked about his future.
Berghuis failed to make a Premier League start for Watford in the season he spent in England, after joining from AZ Alkmaar in July 2015, before his year-long loan move to Feyenoord for 2016/17.
