Former Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores is reportedly being considered for the vacant manager’s job at Stoke City.

The Potters are on the hunt for a new boss after a dire run of form, which has left City in the relegation zone, saw Mark Hughes’ five year tenure come to an end with the Welshman’s dismissal.

Flores, who led Watford to a 13th place Premier League finish in his sole season at Vicarage Road before leaving the club at the end of the 2015/16 season, is among the contenders for the job, according to the BBC.

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill is the favourite to take the Bet365 Stadium hot seat and is expected to hold talks with the club.

Flores, meanwhile, is under contract with Spanish side Espanyol until 2019 who currently sit 14th in La Liga.

With Watford travelling to Stoke on January 31, Sanchez Flores’ former employers could be one of his first opponents should the 52-year-old Spaniard be offered the job.
