Sources close to Richarlison have told the Watford Observer he was 'not happy' with the decision to sack Marco Silva, who convinced the 20-year-old to join Watford, in response to an angry tweet posted by the forward.

Richarlison was set to join Ajax in the summer for £11.5 million before a call from Silva, who was able to converse naturally in his native Portuguese, persuaded him to come to Watford - where he began the season as a relevation.

He tweeted a single angry emoji soon after Silva's sacking was announced yesterday, before adding another later in the day saying "A new day will always come when you least expect it".

A source told the Watford Observer: "He was not happy, because Marco Silva had been doing a good job at Watford.

"It was a surprise for all of us, especially as Richarlison only came to Watford because Marco convinced him. He had practically joined Ajax.

"But if the board decided to change head coach, they know what they're doing. Richarlison is a club employee, he's prepared to play and give his best always, regardless of who is in charge."
