Watford scored three late goals as they stunned champions Chelsea to record a 4-1 win at Vicarage Road.

The visitors were reduced to 10-men when Tiémoué Bakayoko picked up two yellow cards with just half an hour played.

A foul by Thibaut Courtois on Gerard Deulofeu allowed Troy Deeney to score from the spot and give Watford a 1-0 lead at the half-time break.

Eden Hazard looked to have snatched a barely-deserved point with a long-range drive in the 82nd minute.

However, individual efforts from Daryl Janmaat, Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra ensured Watford won their first Premier League game since Boxing Day.

Here’s how the Hornets rated on a memorable night at Vicarage Road.

Orestis Karnezis – 7

Did all that was asked of him and made one smart stop to deny Cesc Fabregas late on. Could do nothing about the Chelsea goal and is doing a fine job deputising for Heurelho Gomes.

Adrian Mariappa – 7

Solid in defence once again and helped keep Chelsea at bay for most of the evening, only to be undone by Hazard’s moment of individual quality.

Sebastian Prödl – 7.5

Like Mariappa, solid throughout and led the back three with no nonsense approach. Chelsea’s lack of an out-and-out forward helped him and he always had the aerial presence to dominate.

Jose Holebas – 7

Watford Observer:

Has recovered well from the low point of two weeks ago when tempers flared and he exchanged angry words with the Watford fans at St Mary’s. Committed throughout and looked good in defence and going forward.

Daryl Janmaat – 8

Took his goal superbly as he drove forward from the right, beat a couple of Chelsea Challenges and lifted over Thibaut Courtois on the slide to restore the Watford lead.

Looked dangerous in attack the whole evening and was defensively astute as well, despite getting caught out of position once in the first half.

Abdoulaye Doucouré – 7.5

Watford Observer:

Back to his best and had the better of the Chelsea midfield. Broke up play well and used the ball in typically sensible manner. Got Watford playing on the front foot and constantly looked the play forward.

Etienne Capoue -7.5

The Frenchman has looked a different player in Watford’s last two games and it is credit to Gracia that the former Spurs man, who often flatters to deceive has found his form playing deeper in the Watford midfield.

Marvin Zeegelaar – 7

Deployed further forward and seemed to benefit from a lack of defensive responsibility. You sense others will play when fitness allows it, but did a good job on the night.

Gerard Deulofeu – 9

Simply put Watford have a match-winner on their hands in the form of the Barcelona winger. Won the penalty which gave Watford the lead and was dangerous throughout.

The manner in which he carried the ball forward and scored his first Watford goal showed the confidence he has in his ability and it was a fitting way to mark a fine home debut.

Troy Deeney – 6.5

Watford Observer:

Would easily have scored higher, but for the brainless manner in which he opted to celebrate his goal. Will likely face a ban for the gesture he made to the crowd.

A completely pointless act which detracted from what should have been a perfect night for the Hornets.

Richarlison - 7.5

Looked back to his brilliant best as he carried the ball at the Chelsea defence at every opportunity. Looked dangerous whenever he was on the ball and could easily have scored with a number of efforts.
