Napoli are reportedly ready to rival Torino in an effort to sign Watford midfielder Roberto Pereyra.
The Argentine was linked with a move to Turin, which would see him link up with former Watford boss Walter Mazzarri once again, last week.
Watford’s valuation of the 27-year-old, believed to be in the region of £26 million, is understood to have put the Turin-based club off.
According to reports in Italy, Watford are now willing to reduce their asking price which has led Napoli to pursue a deal for the former Juventus man.
The potential departure of Jose Callejon has seen Napoli’s need for a winger intensify and they view Pereyra as a suitable candidate to replace the Spaniard.
Pereyra finished last season well after suffering an injury-fit first half of the campaign and became an important player under Javi Gracia.
The Hornets early dealings in the transfer market has seen six players added to their squad already and a number of returning loan players mean Gracia needs to trim his squad.
He will, therefore, be likely to sell a number of names before the start of the 2018/19 campaign.
