Stefano Okaka could be on his way out of Vicarage Road, with reports in Turkey claiming that the Hornets are willing to sell the striker permanently this summer.

The Golden Boys have apparently turned down a loan bid from Bursaspor for Okaka, with boss Samet Aybaba keen on bringing the powerful striker to Turkey.

But any potential deal for the 28-year-old could hit the buffers, with Bursaspor only wanting to bring the player in on loan, while Watford would rather offload the Italian international permanently.

Okaka has been linked with a move away from Vicarage Road for some time and he almost left the Hornets for Galatasaray in January, after a proposed move to Fulham broke down.

The Italian has been blighted by injury during his time in Hertfordshire, scoring just five times in 36 appearances since joining the Golden Boys from Anderlecht in August 2016.

He was left out in the cold by Marco Silva for the first half of last season, despite impressing during the opening day draw with Liverpool, but was handed more playing time by Javi Gracia following his appointment in January, with the Spaniard favouring his physicality up front.

Gracia deployed Okaka alongside Troy Deeney on occasions, but he didn’t feature again for the Hornets after the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace in April due to injury.

The burly striker may now have played his last game for the club, with the Hornets thought to be keen on selling him permanently this summer and the Golden Boys have also been linked with a move for Russian forward Artem Dzyuba in the last few days.
