Roberto Pereyra has hailed the team performance which allowed Watford to secure a comfortable 2-0 opening day win over Brighton.
A well-taken brace from the Winger was enough to ensure Watford made a victorious start to their Premier League campaign.
While Pereyra was undoubtedly Watford’s star man – his first strike could well prove to be a contender for goal of the season – he was quick to praise the effort of his team-mates against the Seagulls.
“The whole team played very well today, as a team and as a squad. We still have a few things to improve and this is just a starting point,” Pereyra said.
“Obviously it is very important to start in a good way by getting the three points and the fans were amazing today. They were fantastic and helped us get the three points.”
Pereyra’s display saw him carry the form he showed at the end of last season into this and he looks to have shaken off the fitness problems which have so far blighted his Watford career.
The winger says Watford getting off to a winnings start was more important than his personal success, but he was still pleased with his goals.
“It has been a really good fame, it was really important to get the three points in the Premier League and we are really happy to get off to a good start with three points,” he said.
“I am really happy with the way the goals arrived and it is so important for us to get the three points. That is the most important thing this afternoon.”
