The international break will see seven of Watford’s first-team players feature for their countries at various different levels.

Ken Sema and Sebastian Prodl could well come head-to-head when Sweden take on Austria on Thursday (7.45pm KO).

Summer signing Sema follows that game with a UEFA Nations League (UNL) clash against Turkey on Monday (7.45pm KO), while Prodl’s Austria get their UNL campaign underway against Bosnia & Herzegovina the following day (7.45pm KO).

Right-back Daryl Janmaat has been included in the Netherlands squad to face Peru in a friendly on Thursday (7.45pm KO) and will hope to be involved in another evening game against France in the UNL three days later.

Craig Cathcart will look to carry his early season form on with Northern Ireland in UNL ties with Bosnia & Herzegovina (Saturday 2pm KO) and Israel (Tuesday 7.45pm KO).

Adrian Mariappa is back in the Jamaica squad for the first time since 2016 and will hope to be involved in their friendly with Ecuador on Saturday (1am KO).

Goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg is in the Sweden Under-21 selection for their European Championship Qualifiers against Hungary and Turkey.

Both games kick off at 5.30pm and take place on Friday and Tuesday respectively.

Last but not least, Carabao Cup goalscorer Domingos Quina is in the Portugal Under-20 squad which takes on Holland (Thursday 5pm KO) and the Czech Republic (Tuesday 4.30pm KO).
