Premier Division

Reed Rangers, runners-up in the Premier Division for the last three seasons, have put down a statement of intent with some new signings and a new management team, and they got off to a winning start with a 4-3 win over St Josephs.

Anton Collins gave St Josephs an early lead before Reed’s new signing from Rifle Volunteer Nick Kerley equalised after half an hour.

The second half started exactly as the first with Collins giving his team the lead for the second time but Reed drew level when Charlie Webster set up Dom David to score with a chipped effort.

Reed where then reduced to 10 men, but that seemed to inspire them, and it was Kerley who gave them the lead for the first time with a curling effort from the edge of the area, before he capped off his debut in style when another debutant Chris Coleman laid off the pass for him to score his hat-trick with 15 minutes left.

Collins completed his own hat-trick from the penalty spot late on, but despite heavy pressure the Reed defence held on which was well marshalled by returning former captain Adam Crassweller.

Last season’s Division One champions Evergreen are the only new club in the top flight, and they got their season off to a perfect start with a 1-0 home win over Fox & Hounds.

The first half was a stalemate, but both sides improved in the second period as the home side saw a cross from Jamie Robertson evade everyone and Fox had a free-kick that struck the post.

But with just four minutes left, a corner from Jake Colley was met sweetly on the volley by Ben Adams for the winner.

Champions Oakview had a straightforward win, beating Chorleywood Club 5-0.

Last season’s top scorer Lewis Putman got his account up and running for this campaign after just two minutes when he was fouled in the box, and he slotted home the resulting penalty.

Putman turned provider for the second goal when his corner was headed home by Tom Kennedy.

Lee Armitt added a third before the break, with Putman completing his hat-trick in the second half with two well-taken goals.

In the battle of the two sides who finished bottom and second bottom last season it was Old Danes Athletic who got off to a winning start with a 2-0 win over West Herts, with the two goals coming in either half.

Tom Coles scored from a penalty after Jordan Woodcock had been brought down in the area by the keeper.

Coles then set up the second goal 15 minutes from time with a flicked pass which allowed left-back Ross Kershaw to score.

It was not a good morning for Old Fullerians who suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Rickmansworth Town.

Charlie Hailey scored a consolation goal late on after a brace by Cabey, with one each for Devall, Mallett and Bailey.

Division One

Tudor Athletic, who won every game in Division Two last season, carried on their victorious run at the higher level with a 5-1 triumph over Langleybury CC.

They took a deserved lead through Sam Clark after a clever ball from Grant Avis split the defence, quickly followed by a well-placed shot from Gary Coyle from outside the box.

Clark’s endeavour brought him another goal, but sloppy defending allowed for a reply from Langleybury just after the break scored by Daniel Bryon. Jack Robertson then made it four shortly after before Kyle Mann slotted home the fifth.

FC Unicorn enjoyed a 4-2 win over AFC Bedmond.

Unicorn went 2-0 up in the first half with goals from Jamie Calvin and a free-kick from Luke Peerless, before Ian McLaughlin netted from distance just before half-time to reduce the lead.

Bedmond looked to have gained a point when they equalised with 10 minutes to go through a debut goal from new signing Louis Hakner, but Unicorn scored twice late on from Danny Warwick and Callum O'Connor.

The two other games in the division ended in 3-1 home wins, with Cassiobury Rangers getting the better of Bushey Sports Club.

Bushey started well and went 1-0 up from a cross by Steven Hewitt that looped into the net.

Cassiobury finished the half stronger, with Max Leslie-Smith hitting the post with a header from a corner.

He then struck the woodwork again with a header, but this time the ball fell to Frankie Henley who had an easy tap in.

Cassiobury went ahead after a defensive mix-up from Bushey on the edge of their own area and Joe Mortimer took advantage by lobbing the goalkeeper.

Rangers started the second half stronger and it the victory was completed when a long goal kick was misjudged by the defenders and Mortimer looped the ball over the onrushing keeper.

Newly-promoted FC Woodside enjoyed their opening win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Croxley.

They took the lead when Drew Snailham intercepted a back pass and slotted home to make it 1-0, and Jack Merrix doubled the advantage when he slotted home from close range.

Snailham added his second of the game when he lobbed the keeper, before Croxley pulled a goal back through Aaron Farrell.

Division Two

Everett Rovers, who have been promoted two divisions, started with a 5-2 away win over AFC Green Machine.

Rovers took an early lead through Tom Owen after a sublime cross from the right by Jake Knight and Joe Chance doubled the advantage 10 minutes later with a pin-point 25-yard free-kick.

A third was added just before half-time when Owen was pulled back in the box and Knight converted the resulting penalty.

Green pulled a goal back early in the second half from Tom Read before Knight netted his second, running on to a Joe Gallagher pass.

Green stayed in the contest though, scoring a second through Callum Jones, before Knight completed his hat-trick after a through ball from Ryan Denham.

Bushey Rangers won by the same scoreline at home against Ardent.

Taylor Cobb hit a hat-trick with one each for Chad Flaherty and Sam Burrows. Joe Donaghey and Jamie Kavanagh scored the Ardent goals.

Ripstone made their intentions clear with a 6-0 win over Ricky FC.

Lee Culverhouse and Tom Courtney both struck a double each with Josh Roe and Jamie Critchlow netting a goal apiece.

Division Three

Woodlands United edged out Chess United by the odd goal in seven.

Darren O’Brien fired a hat-trick with the other goal from Joe Ray, while Nelson Pequeno, Matt Hargreaves and George Adams replied for Chess.

It was a little more one-sided as Oxhey Athletic beat Batchworth 6-1.

Connor Murphy netted a hat-trick, with two from Jordan Aston-Woods and one from Michael Orsmond. Dom Randomski scored the Batchworth goal.

Division Four

SOCA and Sun Postal Sports shared the points in a 2-2 draw; Harley Mead and Connor Chapman finding the net for the home side with Ben Dunton and Dion Osbourne replying for the visitors.

It was also a draw in the game between two new sides, RBL Croxley and Skyline.

It took 70 minutes for the deadlock to be finally broken when Harry Donohoe hit a shot from outside the box into the top corner, but Skyline gained a draw from a penalty two minutes from time slotted home by Asif Khan.

In the other game Hews beat White Horse 5-0.
