Watford FC ladies player Jenny Hughes has been called up to the Wales Under-19 squad.

In what is Hughes’ first call up, she will be involved in a training camp with the Wales side and joined up with the rest of the squad today.

Hughes impressed for the Golden Girls’ development team last season and earned a chance to play with the senior set up when making her debut in the FA Women’s Cup.

She has since gone on to play for the Hornets in league games and her call up has understandably delighted those who have aided her development at Watford.

“I am extremely happy and proud of Jenny for her Welsh international call up,” Under-23 lead coach Laura Dyer told the club website.

“Jenny is an absolute pleasure to coach, she always applies herself the right way in training and matches, showing 100 per cent effort and determination to do well.

“She was also made my vice-captain this season and she is someone I would like the Under-23s to look up to.

“I want to wish Jenny all the best for the camp this week and hopefully this is just the start of her international career.”
