Troy Deeney is fit for Watford’s clash against Arsenal but the Hornets will be without six players for tomorrow’s trip to the Emirates Stadium.

Daryl Janmaat, Stefano Okaka, Sebastian Prodl, Miguel Britos, Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu are all out, but there is positive news about the latter, who could be fit enough to feature in next weekend’s game against Bournemouth.

Deeney missed the mid-week penalty shootout defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup having left last Saturday’s match against Fulham with his foot in a protective boot.

The Hornets’ captain later revealed on BBC Radio 5 Live that he had played against the Cottagers with three broken toes.

Deeney has started the campaign in fine form, scoring twice in six appearances, with some calling for the striker to be called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate.

The news that Deeney will be fit for this weekend’s clash against the Gunners will undoubtedly be a boost for head coach Javi Gracia, who confirmed that the striker had trained as normal this week.

Asked about Deeney, the Watford head coach said: “I don’t have a doubt about that. He’s available. He’s trained very well this week with us. He’s fit.”

However, it’s not all positive news, with Gracia revealing that he is unsure about how long Janmaat will be out for after the right-back had to have surgery on a knee injury earlier this week.

The Dutch international has been an ever present in the Premier League this campaign for the Golden Boys and it means one of Kiko Femeina or Marc Narvarro will come into the side at the Emirates.

Gracia said: “You have asked me many times about the first eleven. We have played always with the same eleven. Next game we will change the team.

“I am always sad when I have injured players. In this case, we lose Janmaat for I don’t how long. He’s an important player for us but I prefer not to complain about the players I don’t have. I prefer to choose players I have in this moment and I’m very proud of them. They are showing a high level in all the games we are playing. I’m focused on the game knowing that we will be ready.

“In this moment, Cleverley and Janmaat will need more time out of the team. But the rest, Okaka is training with the team, Prodl is training with the team and Miguel Britos is training out of the team, but I think next week he will come back with the team.

“When they come back, we will see how much time they need to stay in the best condition and to be an option for me. But I think next week, we could have all of them training with the team.”

But there is positive news on Deulofeu, who has yet to feature for the Hornets since making a permanent move to Vicarage Road from Barcelona in the summer.

The Spaniard’s loan spell with Watford last campaign was marred by injury, with the 24-year-old suffering a stress fracture in his foot against former club Everton in February.

He returned towards the end of last season, featuring three times, but has suffered further injury problems over the summer.

However, Deuolfeu has been training with the team this week and Gracia says the winger could be an option for next weekend’s clash with Bournemouth at Vicarage Road.

Asked about Deulofeu, Gracia said: “He’s training with the team and maybe before the break, in the next game we will see if he’s available. But it’s an option.

“The games before, he was always close to the team but he was training out of the team. Now, he’s training with the team. I think he needs time but we will see his evolution in the next days and see if he’s available for the next game. But it’s an option.”
