Fullerians slipped to the foot of the London One North table after suffering a punishing 39-5 defeat at Old Haberdashers on Saturday.

Rich Hoskins’ men were off the pace from the get go as they missed a number of tackles to hand their opposition the advantage.

The manner of his side’s display left Hoskins frustrated and he was not shy in criticising his players in the wake of their fifth straight defeat of the season.

He said: “We were poor and not up for the game. Making numerous changes due to availability does not help with consistency but we lacked hunger for the win today.”

After Fullers had turned down the chance to kick an early penalty, they found themselves trailing when Old Habs worked the ball well to go over.

Fullers hit back as Liam Mann crashed over after a five metre scrum but three more scores without reply ensured they were left facing a 20-5 deficit at the break.

Hoskins men came out with renewed impetus after the half-time interval but could do little to stem the flow of points being scored at the other end.

With Old Habs well in control, Fullers lost their intensity as the game reached its close and allowed their heads to drop as their opposition pulled away to record an easy win.

The visit of Amersham & Chiltern will provide Fullers with their next chance to pick up a first league win of the season when the sides face off tomorrow.
