Dimitri Foulquier scored only the second goal of his senior career as he opened the scoring in Getafe’s defeat of Rayo Vallecano.

The defender found the net just after the hour mark in the La Liga clash before a Sergio Akieme own-goal doubled the lead soon after.

Strugglers Vallecano hit back through Raul de Tomas but it mattered little as Getafe held on to claim all three points.

The result takes Foulquier’s loan side up to 10th in the table with 12 points from their nine league games so far this season.

Foulquier will look to be involved once more for Getafe when they host Real Betis in an early kick-off on Sunday.

There was also a goal for Dodi Lukebakio as he continued his fine form for German Outfit Fortuna Dusseldorf.

While the personal accolade of a fourth goal for the club was a a welcome one for Lukebakio, there was little else to cheer for the Watford loanee as Dusseldorf were hammered 7-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt.

The loss continues a worrying slump in form for Dusseldorf and they have now lost four games on the spin. They face Wolfsburg in their next game.

Randell Williams came on for the final moments of a frenetic League One clash as Wycombe Wanderers beat Scunthorpe United 3-2.

The Chairboys were 2-0 down in no time but battled back to level at Adams Park before goalkeeper Ryan Allsop was sent off late in the act.

The 10-men pushed on, though, and snatched a winner deep into added time when Watford-born Craig Mackail-Smith raced through to score.

The last-gasp win leaves Wycombe 17th in the League One table ahead of taking on Rochdale.

Elsewhere in England’s third tier, Jerome Sinclair replaced one-time Watford man Luke O’Nien late in Sunderland’s 2-0 win over Shrewsbury.

O’Nien had already found the net to help the Black Cats keep their promotion hopes on track.

Alex Jakubiak lasted 45 minutes before being replaced at the interval of Bristol Rovers’ 0-0 draw with Oxford.

Finally, Daniel Bachmann failed to get on as Kilmarnock emerged as 2-1 winners on their travels against St Mirren to go third in the Scottish Premiership.
