Barnet could have few complaints after they suffered their second successive home defeat as Maidstone United triumphed 2-0 at the Hive.
John Still’s men would have been hoping to bounce back from the 3-1 reverse at home to Salford City in mid-week, but instead it was the visitors who ended their five-match winless run with a deserved success.
Harry Wheeler’s side made the breakthrough after 28 minutes when Blair Turgott latched on to a pass from Jake Cassidy and calmly beat Mark Cousins.
The Barnet keeper was to become an increasingly man, making further saves from Elliott Roman and Turgott to keep the gap at one goal at the interval.
The visitors continued to press after the break but they had to wait until 10 minutes from time to make sure of the win when substitute Gold Omotayo tapped home after Cousins had denied Cassidy.
Barnet remain 12th in the table following the defeat, eight points below the play-offs.
Barnet: Cousins; Tutonda (Mason-Clark 46), Alexander, Robson, Reynolds, Johnson, Taylor, Adams, Fonguck, Walker (Coulthirst 46), Tarpey (Barham 73). Subs not used: Matrevics, Sweeney.
