A Abbots Langley martial arts instructor is setting his sights on the Commonwealth Games after one of his students became national champion.

BJ Academy’s Chloe Dutton fought her way through the competition to clinch golden TaeKwonDo glory in Sheffield.

The 19-year-old from Hemel Hempstead, who has been competing for less than two years and reached the final in 2017, was almost in disbelief at her triumph, admitting: “I thought I was dreaming.”

Dutton is trained by 8th Dan grand master Brima Johnson, who saw two more of his students – Rihanna and Nikhil Patel – win bronze and gain valuable experience.

Johnson said: “I am extremely proud of the club and what it has achieved. The hard work and hours of gruelling training is starting to pay off and who knows what we will go on to achieve.

“There are some very talented fighters in the club and I believe the Commonwealth Games may be in sight.”
