Javi Gracia says Isaac Success and Troy Deeney are capable of playing in a front two for Watford, with the latter in line for return at Southampton today.
Deeney has shaken off a hamstring complaint and returned to training this week after missing Watford’s last three games.
During that time Success led the line well, scoring against Huddersfield Town and offering a physical presence at the point of Watford’s attack.
Watford have operated a fluid three of Will Hughes, Roberto Pereyra and Gerard Deulofeu behind Success, but Gracia stresses his side can be flexible with personnel.
“I think we can play different ways, with players like Troy, Stefano [Okaka], Andre [Gray] and Isaac. They are all very physical,” he said.
“We can also play with Gerard Deulofeu as a second striker and change the style of play. All of them are good players and we try and make the right choice for all the games.”
Deeney has enjoyed the more productive spells of his career when playing alongside a strike partner, but has as yet not been coupled with Success up front under Gracia.
Despite both players possessing great physicality, Gracia believes Success and Deeney have differing qualities which would work well in a partnership.
He said: “They can play together and they have different characteristics. They can play like we have done with Troy and Andre or last season with Troy and Stefano.
“We have used them in different situations and I am happy with the results. It does not depend only about the characteristics and all of them can play together.”
