Saracens back-three man Matt Gallagher says the team need to focus on themselves rather than their opposition when top-ranked Premiership Rugby Cup side Worcester head to Allianz Park this weekend.

The Sunday afternoon kick-off in north London sees Sarries host the Warriors, who they trail by four points in Pool 2 of the Premiership Rugby Cup.

Following a biggest-ever win at Welford Road last weekend the Warriors are the only side in the competition to have recorded two bonus-point wins, but Gallagher is very much keeping the focus at home.

“Worcester have a lot of good players and that’s shown in their results in the competition,” Gallagher said.

“We can’t think about what team they’ll put out; we just have to focus on ourselves, improve on last week’s performance and hopefully the result will take care of itself.”

Gallagher, along with giant lock Joel Kpoku, was one of two tryscorers in Saracens’ 15-15 draw at Sale Sharks last weekend and is included at full-back to face Worcester.

Saracens have made five changes from the Sale game as Christopher Tolofua gets his first start of the campaign and Richard Barrington is upgraded from the replacements.

Tom Whiteley, who captained in Round One, is the only change in the backs and elsewhere, Will Skelton returns to action for the first time in three weeks.

Gallagher, 22, has clearly enjoyed the competition so far but says a win this weekend is essential.

“It’s always nice to get regular game time,” added Gallagher.

“It’s been hugely beneficial and has given us young lads the chance to develop in a first team environment.

“It was great to grab the win against Leicester and we showed character to earn a draw at Sale, now we just want to end this block of Cup games with a win in front of our home support.

“Playing at Allianz Park is always special no matter the occasion and we can’t wait to get back out there.”
