Matt Wallace heads to Dubai for the finale of the European Tour season buoyed by a good week in South Africa.

A five-under-par final round of 67 saw the Moor Park professional finish in a tie for fifth place at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, level with Haotong Li on seven-under at the premier Rolex Series tournament.

The result was the 28-year-old highest finish since winning Made in Denmark in September and moved him up to 19th in the Race to Dubai standings going into this week’s DP World Tour Championship.

Following scores of 69, 72 and 73, Wallace started yesterday's final round on two-under, but quickly moved to four-under after a birdie-birdie start at Sun City.

This year’s three-time European Tour winner made a third birdie at the par three 12th before picking up two more shots with an eagle three at the par five 14th to see him finish high up the leaderboard at the Gary Player-hosted event, which saw Lee Westwood claim his first triumph since 2014.

The DP World Tour Championship sees the leading 60 available players in the Race to Dubai standings contest the season-ending event at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
