The rise of Matt Wallace continues after the Moor Park professional ended the 2018 European Tour season 10th in the Race to Dubai standings.

The 28-year-old came up just short in his quest to win a fourth title of the year as Danny Willett clinched the DP World Tour Championship by two shots, but a superb effort from Wallace saw him finish alongside Masters winner Patrick Reed in a tie for second on 16-under.

That result saw Wallace climb nine places in the Race to Duabi standings and into the top 10 a claim a share of the bonus pool as the 47-event competition reached its climax in Dubai.

Starting the day two shots off the lead in a share for fourth place, Wallace remained in the hunt for the title throughout as he made five birdies and dropped just the one shot to fire a four-under-par final round of 68.

A historic six-time on the satellite Alps Tour in 2016, Wallace’s climb up the golfing ladder continued in May last year when he won the Open de Portugal to claim his first European Tour title and his playing privileges at that level.

If anyone thought that victory was a fluke, the Moor Park player has emphatically proved them wrong by winning the Hero Indian Open, BMW International Open and Made in Denmark as well as being in contention at a number of other events this year, performances that were close to securing a place on Europe’s triumphant Ryder Cup team.
