It's been a good week for Oxhey Jets after they scored 11 times without conceding to secure two convincing wins.

A triumphant four days began with a 5-0 home victory over London Tigers in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division on Saturday.

Jets began brightly and were thwarted on several occasions by the Tigers keeper before netting the opener when Andy Brennan headed home a George Hobson corner.

Nick Kerley doubled the lead from long range, but that early impetus appeared to be lost after the break until boss Tim O’Sullivan shuffled his pack.

The moves paid off as Sean Giordmaina made it 3-0, new signing Jordan Payne added a quick-fire fourth before 16-year-old Ollie Lawford completed the scoring.

Jets went one goal better on Tuesday as they saw off neighbours Oxhey 6-0 in the quarter-finals of the St Mary’s Cup.

The home side were three goals to the good by the break after a Kerley brace had built on Brennan’s opener. And the scorer of the opening goal was to take centre stage after the break with a second-half hat-trick.

Berkhamsted have also enjoyed a successful week, rising to fourth in Southern League Premier Division Central before advancing in the Herts Charity Cup.

Saturday’s league clash against Cambridge City at Broadwater was a tight affair and it looked destined to end in a goalless draw until five minutes form time when substitute Louis Austin scrambled the ball over the line after keeper Liam Gooch had failed to claim a corner under pressure.

Tuesday night’s tie against Hoddesdon Town was more comfortable as Matt Bateman continued his superb scoring season with a hat-trick to seal a 3-0 win.

Bateman put the hosts 2-0 in front by the interval, the first coming from a 36th-minute penalty before netting a second before the interval.

The striker completed his treble – and took his tally for the campaign to 25 – with a third as Berkhamsted kept a clean sheer for the fourth time in five games.

Tring Athletic remain top of the South Midlands Premier Division table but their lead is down to a point after suffering a second defeat of the season on Tuesday.

A David Parkinson brace secured the 2-0 win for hosts Biggleswade United.

Athletic had fared better on their travels on Saturday, securing a 3-0 victory at London Colney thanks to two goals from Ashton Campbell and a Mark Riddick single.

It was also a mixed week on their travels for Leverstock Green, who lost 2-0 at Arlesey Town on Tuesday following a 3-2 victory at North Greenford United.

Ethan Flanagan, Mark Smith and Alex Witham secured Saturday’s success.
