Watford's Premier League away fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, January 30 will take place at Wembley Stadium, it has been confirmed.

Spurs had expected to be in their new stadium by the start of the current campaign, but ongoing setbacks have meant that they have instead had to use the national stadium.

There was some hope that the Watford fixture would be one of the first to take place in the new facility, but it now looks like a ball will not be kicked inside the new ground until the end of February at the earliest.

A statement on the Spurs website said the delays were being caused by time required for "building test dates and building control sign-offs, along with formal test event dates."

Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, apologised for the delays and told the Spurs website he hopes to have a final move in date soon.

He said: "I should like to apologise to our fans and thank you for your continued patience. The response from those who attended the familiarisation event was great to hear and reinforced our commitment to deliver an exceptional matchday experience for everyone.

"We shall now seek clarity in respect of building test schedules and test event dates and provide further information on these in the next two to three weeks."
