Oxhey Jets held high-flying Biggleswade FC to a 1-1 draw away from home on Saturday in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division.

Jets’ goalkeeper Matt Evans was in fine form and made a number of key saves, despite feeling unwell.

Nevertheless, Jets found themselves a goal down on 27 minutes when Ryan Inskip pounced on a loose ball and slipped Alex Marsh in to slot past the advancing Evans.

As the game went on, it seemed less and less likely that Oxhey would manage to find an equaliser, while the home side pushed forward to try and kill the game off.

However, with just five minutes remaining on the clock, a Jets’ free-kick on the right was floated into the box by Luke Jones and Ollie Lawford rose highest to head home and share the points between the two sides.

Bovingdon hit Clean Slate for six without reply in a thumping Division Two victory away from home.

Sean Brettel’s goal added to a hat-trick by Stephen Dodd and a brace by Matt Standen to see off their opponents with ease.

Tring Athletic took part in an eight-goal thriller at North Greenford United, as they drew 4-4 and slipped from the top of the Premier Division table.

Athletic took the lead in the 18th minute with a Mark Riddick header, before they were pegged back by a Nick Turner strike soon after.

Tring put themselves back in front before half-time when Luke Dunstan, who was making his first appearance since October, stabbed the ball home from close range.

United emerged the stronger side after the restart and scored two goals in quick succession, first through skipper Ben Long’s head, before Aaron McLeish latched onto a route one ball down the field to make it 3-2 to the home side.

With a quarter-of-an-hour to go George Ironton scored an equaliser from outside the area to set up an exciting climax to the game.

Athletic thought they might have won it through a Dunstan penalty two minutes later.

However, a Harvie Gardner header deep into the six minutes of injury time spoiled Tring’s afternoon and sent them home with a point.

Leverstock Green were beaten 3-1 away at Edgware Town, despite taking the lead inside two minutes through Mark Smith.

His goal was cancelled out by replies from Steven Benevides, George McCluskey and Tyriq Hunte, meaning it was little more than a consolation.
