It was a game many thought would be a difficult test beforehand but Watford were to produce a fine display of ruthless attacking football to dismantle Cardiff City and scored five goals in the Premier League for the first time.
Gerard Deulofeu was the hat-trick hero, becoming the first Hornets player to score three times in a Premier League game, while Troy Deeney capped his own strong showing with a brace to move on to 120 goals in all competitions for the club.
