Watford Girls Under 16s were crowned both Hertfordshire FA Challenge Cup winners and league title winners on the same day on Saturday morning, as they beat St Albans City Youth after a penalty shootout.

The young Hornets could not overcome the Saints in regulation time and the game went to a penalty shootout.

Watford triumphed from the spot, winning 3-2 and lifted the trophy for the first time.

They then received news that they had been named champions of their league with results elsewhere going in their favour.

Meanwhile, the Under 18s did not have as much to celebrate as they found themselves on the end of a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Walton Casuals FC Ladies in the quarter-final of the Sue Sharples Challenge Cup.

Elsewhere the Under 15s and Under 14s had mixed fortunes as they both played against Tottenham Hotspur Ladies in league fixtures, with the former going down to a 2-1 defeat and the latter romping home to a 6-0 victory.

Macey Bannerman-Lloyd was in impressive form for the Under 14s, netting four times, while a brace from Charlotte Foster added extra gloss to the scoreline.

Casey Evans was on target for the Under 15s, but could not prevent a late rally from Spurs who scored twice late on to snatch the points.

Watford’s U12’s travelled to Ruislip Rangers to participate in a double header that saw Sundai Amele, Chloe Manning, Kayla Kilstock, Lola Ogundere and Louisa Ransom score nine goals in two games, while Solange Brellier scored for the Under 11s and Amelia Baskiewicz and Daisy-May Bird got on the scoresheet for the Under 9s.
