It was a weekend of mixed emotions for Watford FC Girls as two teams celebrated being crowned league champions, while there was cup heartache for two others.

The Under-12s won their Herts Girls Partnership League title after a double header success at home to Hitchin Belles.

Goals from Sundai Amele and Louisa Ransom secured a 2-0 victory in the opening game and the league was clinched thanks to a 4-1 victory in the second match. Amele struck twice more and Laura Osko and Chloe Manning were also on target.

The Under-14s only required one victory from their home double header against Pro Direct Academy Enfield to also be crowned champions.

Despite losing 2-0 in the opening game, Watford bounced back to celebrate title success after Macey Bannerman-Lloyd and Erin Shacklock fired their side to a 2-1 victory in match two.

There was disappointment for the Under-15s though, who were beaten by Stevenage Borough Juniors in the Herts Challenge Cup final at Letchworth.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time, a comeback proved too much as Watford finished runners-up to the league and cup double winners.

An injury-depleted Under-13 side lost to an extra-time goal at the hands of Royston in their League Cup semi-final after Leigh Underwood and Daisy Beesening had netted for the visitors.

The Under-18s moved to within one point of the Greater London Women’s League Division Three summit after a 9-0 victory at Tower Hamlets.

Sasha Williams led the way with a hat-trick, Sydney Graham and Tiarna Reid both scored twice and Lucy Bolitho and Maggie Bristow were also on target for Watford, who have a game in hand over leaders East London Ladies with two matches left to play.

Watford Under-9 Greens made the short trip to Garston Ladies Pumas in the HGFPL Child Friendly League. Amelia Baskiewicz and Daisy-May Bird scored two goals each, with Olive Mitchell adding another.

The Under-9 Yellows then hosted St Albans City Youth. Both Kimberley Ortiz and Evie Rose struck four times for Watford, with Amelia Mariappa joining her teammates on the scoresheet.

With no league fixture to play, the Under-10s enjoyed a tough friendly against Nascot Boys, with Verity Richman and Elsa Walker finding the back of the net.

The Under-11s travelled to Hitchin Belles for their fixture. There was a brace for Lexe Allaway and this was followed by goals for Merryn Dyson and Ugomma Ekendu-Obi.

Spurs Ladies were the visitors for the Under-16s in a friendly fixture. Charli O’Connor struck a consolation penalty for Watford, as they were beaten 4-1.
