Watford suffered a heavy defeat on the final day of the Premier League at the hands of West Ham United.

The Hornets were reduced to ten early in the second half, when they were already trailing 2-1 and went on to concede twice more in a shambolic end to their 2018/19 league campaign.

Here's how we rated the players' individual efforts:

Ben Foster - 6

Shoddy defending was the main culprit for the four goals Watford conceded and there was little Foster could've done to prevent any of the goals.

He commanded his area well and made one or two brave stops to keep West Ham out, but was undone by some poor performances in front of him.

Kiko Femenia - 4

It was a tough day at the office for Femenia, who gave away a very silly penalty in the game's closing stages.

He did have a promising start to the match, in particular going forward, but had trouble defending West Ham attacks throughout and never really looked comfortable at the back.

Christian Kabasele - 4

This was Kabasele's last chance to prove to Javi Gracia that he should be in the starting 11 for the cup final and he made a real pig's ear of it.

His defending for West Ham's first goal was sloppy and indecisive and he struggled with the threat of Arnautovic all afternoon and was substituted mid way through the second half, presumably because Gracia had seen enough by then.

Craig Cathcart - 5

Alongside Kabasele in the centre of defence, Cathcart didn't perform much better.

He shirked his defensive duties at times and was indecisive and gave the West Ham attackers far too much time on the ball. He'll need to be much sharper if the Hornets are to have any hope of defeating Manchester City next Saturday.

Jose Holebas - 4

While Holebas may feel he was hard done to by referee Chris Kavanagh, his challenge was clumsy and technically a red card offence in accordance with the rulebook and he will miss the Hornets' biggest game in 35 years because of it.

However, even before then he hadn't had a very good game by his usual high standards. His crosses lacked their customary precision, while he too had a tough time defending.

Etienne Capoue - 6

Watford's Player of the Season looked a shadow of his usual self and failed to stamp his authority on the game in the way he normally does.

He was far from the worst player on the pitch, but not anywhere near the level fans have come to expect from him.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - 5

With Doucoure possibly heading for the exit in the summer, he put in a shift that suggested he was not too bothered about the outcome of the match.

He looked dinsinterested, immobile and like he was only thinking about next week's cup final.

Roberto Pereyra - 5.5

The Argentine looks a little drained of confidence at the moment. There were instances when the Pereyra at the start of the season would have pulled the trigger, but he no longer seems to back himself in those situations.

He looks a threat up top still, but hasn't scored since Boxing Day and needs to regain his form from the start of the season.

Will Hughes - 5.5

While Hughes' workrate could never be called into question, his end product against West Ham left a lot to be desired. His decision making was poor and his passing lacked creativity.

Gerard Deulofeu - 7

The mercurial Spaniard took his goal well after a very clever bit of skill to round Fabianski.

He played well, but looked frustrated with his team-mates who weren't up to scratch.

Troy Deeney - 5

In his programme notes, Deeney said there was "no excuse" for Watford to not perform well against West Ham. After their heaviest home defeat of the campaign, he may owe the supporters an explanation.

While he could be forgiven were he to complain about a lack of service, he still was far from at his best and failed to make much of an impact on the match.

SUBS

Andre Gray - 5

The first thing Andre Gray did after coming off the bench was try a backheel that gave away possession and his performance didn't really get much better after that.

The Hornets' super sub was nowhere to be found in this match.

Adrian Mariappa - N/A

Joined the game too late to make an impact.

Adam Masina - N/A

Joined the game too late to make an impact.
