The fourth annual Northwood Festival of Sport will take place on Sunday, June 2 this year.

The festival provides events for adults and children, attracting hundreds of competitors each year, and 2019 is expected to be the biggest one yet.

Included in the events are four different distances of triathlon, which involves swimming, cycling and running, and two distances of aquathlon, which is a swimming and running event.

Other events to be held are four distances of aquabike (swim and cycle) and three distances of duathlon (run, cycle, run) as well as 10 kilometre and 5km run races, 1.5km fun run for children and the whole family, and a 100km cycle.

David Enright, director or Hercules Events who are staging the festival, said: “We are enormously excited about the Festival of Sport, which offers events and excitement for all. We are particularly delighted to have so many members of our Armed Forces taking on the long-distance swim events.

“There is an event for every ability level, from armchair warriors to elite athletes. There are still places available and all are welcome.”

Half Ironman competitor Keith Hinds said: “Last year I took on the Half Iron distance triathlon. The course was beautiful and challenging. I loved the way the events offered something for everyone, right down to the kids.

“The event was well organised, the event crew were very friendly and welcoming; all in all it was a great competition and I can’t wait to take part again.”
