Juan Camilo ‘Cucho’ Hernandez’s hopes of appearing in the knockout stages of the Under-20 World Cup will be decided on Wednesday after Colombia were beaten 2-0 by Group A leaders Senegal.

Having played an hour of his nation’s 2-0 victory over hosts Poland in their opening group game, the Watford striker featured for 74 minutes as the Colombians were defeated by two penalties.

Ibrahmina Nine opened the scoring from 12 yards in the 34th minute after he had been fouled by Anderson Arroyo to give Senegal the lead at the break.

Colombia pressed for an equaliser in the second half but their fate was confirmed with five minutes remaining when Dion Lopy was also successful with a spot kick after Ousseynou Niang had been brought down by Andres Reyes.

Although the south Americans will be optimistic of beating Tahiti on Wednesday, they go into their final group game third in the table, behind Poland on goal difference.

The 20-year-old forward travelled to thr tournament having spent a second season on loan with Huesca in Spain.
