The next rugby season will see the formation of a brand new team as Tabrd RFC’s and Watford RFC’s under-11 girls merge to form The Lionesses of Tabard and Watford under-13s side.

This Barbarians team will enable the girls to carry on with their passion and play the game they love.

Last week saw the girls fundraising at MOD Pizza in Borehamwood, their recently acquired sponsor.

“We are so delighted with the turnout. The funds go a long way to purchasing a new kit for September and it’s been lovely to meet friends and family of all of the girls” said one of their coaches.

Not only did everyone enjoy the pizza delights but they also had a guest appearance.

Saracens and England fly-half Zoe Harrison took a break from her heavy training schedule to come along and meet the team, sign autographs and pose for photos, as well as spending time chatting to the team.

Gracie Gilbert from Tabard RFC said: “It was so nice to see Zoe close up. She is so cool and gave me some great tips for my rugby future.”

The future is bright for women’s rugby as we see growth in the sport from grassroots level and this Barbarians team is testament to passion and determination.
