The line-up for the quarter-finals of the Watford Observer Fourteen14 Shield is set to be completed this evening when Chipperfield Clarendon face West Herts B in the last remaining first round game.

Holders Abbots Langley, Radlett, Watford Haidery and Aldenham School had reached the last eight before last Thursday and they have since been joined by West Herts A, Kings Langley and Bushey.

West Herts A will now meet Radlett in a battle of the Herts League big guns after scheduled opponents Watford Grammar School for Boys conceded their tie.

Next up for Kings Langley is a home clash against Watford Haidery after they made light work of Leverstock Green A in the first round.

The outcome was never really in doubt once Green had been dismissed for just 70, with Andrew Burnell (4-26) and Christian James (3-21) doing the bulk of the damage.

In reply, Kings cruised to an eight-wicket victory in just 7.7 overs.

Bushey may not have been too confident of progressing into the last eight after they were dismissed for 99.

But Bury found it even more difficult in the field and fell eight runs short of the target on 91 for seven at the end of their 14, eight-ball overs.

Bushey’s reward is a home quarter-final against Aldenham School, meaning at least one unseeded side will be in the last four.

Following the completion of the Shield first round, the draw for the Plate competition will take place and the outcome will be reported on this website.

Meanwhile, arrangements for the semi-finals are close to being finalised and these will be publicised as soon as possible.

Shield quarter-finals (seeds in bold): Radlett v West Herts A; Kings Langley v Watford Haidery; Chipperfield Clarendon or West Herts B v Abbots Langley; Bushey v Aldenham School.
