Watford have had a bid rejected for Slovakia international Denis Vavro, the Watford Observer has been told.
The 23-year-old centre back currently plays for Danish Superligaen club Copenhagen, but is believed to be keen on an exit after attracting interest from elsewhere.
Vavro signed a five year deal with the Danish champions in 2017, but has since told the club he is ready to move on.
Copenhagen were initially looking for around €12million for the player, but are thought to have softened their stance recently and could now accept a bid of €10m (around £9m).
However, Watford's offer has been described as "low" and not near enough to the Danish club's valuation.
Lazio are also understood to be interested in the player and reports in Italy suggest they are now favourites to sign him.
