Senior officials at Rennes expect Ismaila Sarr to complete a club record move to Watford in the next few days, the Watford Observer has been told.

The Hornets have been in prolonged talks to sign the highly-rated Senegalese winger and these look increasingly likely to reach a positive conclusion before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

The Ligue 1 club have been in action in China today where they were beaten 2-1 by Paris St Germain in the Champions Trophy. The 21-year-old was not involved due to a delayed holiday following his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations, but sources have been told by senior club officials that they expect the transfer to be finalised shortly.

Reports in France tonight suggest a fee has been agreed been both clubs and although the figure has not been revealed, it is claimed it will exceed €30 million.

It was claimed earlier in the summer that Sarr had told friends he wanted to move to Vicarage Road after learning of the Hornets' interest, while Rennes manager Julien Stéphan admitted at the end of last month that he expected the player to leave.
