Watford will face Coventry City at home in the second round of the Carabao Cup, following Tuesday evening's draw.
The Hornets have not faced the Sky Blues competitively since they met in the 2011/12 Championship season, when both fixtures ended with goalless draws.
Watford beat Reading 2-0 away from home at this stage in the competition last season, with Isaac Success and Domingos Quina scoring the goals.
The Hornets were then beaten by Tottenham in round three in a game held at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes.
That game finished 2-2 after a flurry of late goals, before Spurs won 4-2 on penalties.
The game will be played week commencing August 26.
