Gavin Ward will referee this evening's Carabao Cup game between Watford and Coventry City, it has been announced.
The official last took charge of a Hornets' game back in December 2014 when they beat Reading 1-0 away from home at the Madejski Stadium.
During that match, in which Almen Abdi scored a 70th minute winner, Ward issued a red card to Gabriele Angella before half-time for two bookable offences.
The first of which came on 38 minutes for a bad challenge, before a handball just seven minutes later saw him leave for an early bath.
The referee has already issued three red cards in just four matches this season, sending off Jed Wallace in Millwall's 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday and Tranmere's Corey Blackett-Taylor and Ollie Banks in their 2-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers.
He will be assisted by Mark Pottage and Timothy Wood, while Christopher Kidd will act as fourth official.
