Andre Marriner will referee Watford's Premier League clash with Sheffield United this weekend, it has been announced.

The official only oversaw one game involving the Hornets last season when he officiated the 2-1 home victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The season before, he also only took charge of one Watford match when he refereed the 2-0 win over West Ham United.

Marriner has never sent off a Watford player as a referee before and last issued a red card in January this year, when he sent off Wilfried Zaha in Crystal Palace's 1-1 draw away at Southampton.

During his last Premier League game as a referee between Liverpool and Newcastle, Marriner did not brandish any cards at all.

He will be assisted at Vicarage Road by Simon Long and Peter Kirkup, while Tim Robinson will be the fourth official and Martin Atkinson will be on video assistant referee duties.
