Quique Sanchez Flores wants Watford to turn their clean sheet against Sheffield United into something positive with a good result against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Hornets had not managed to stop a team from scoring in the league since February until their goalless draw with the Blades before the international break.

Now the head coach wants the team to use it as a springboard for something good, but knows it will not be easy against Spurs.

"We can't trust in the unique clean sheet in the last eight months or something like this," said Sanchez Flores.

"We need to be more realistic. This is a good start, or it could be a good start, but right now we have to play against Tottenham.

"I already know how is Tottenham, how tough they are. You just remember two months ago, three months ago when they were playing at the Wanda Metropolitano in the final of the Champions League."

Like Watford, Spurs themselves have not been performing anywhere near the levels expected of them in the early stages of the new season, which could give the Hornets a chance of causing an upset on their first visit to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sanchez Flores is still wary of Spurs and what they are capable of when they are at their best, but said there is definitely an opportunity for them to get something from the game.

"We are in a similar position right now," he said.

"Right now in the league, I don't know their position, but I don't mind, I know what is the potential. We know, we analyse the team and we know what is the potential of this team.

"But like the rest of the human beings, it depends a lot on the confidence, on the power of the brain and all these kind of things.

"In football everything is possible and like a team, we are trying to change the mentality in that way to think that every single match is a nice opportunity and a big opportunity for us to try to get points."
