Oxhey Jets won for the first time since the end of November as three first-half goals helped them to a 3-1 win over Wembley on Saturday.

While it was not quite as dramatic as Jets’ stunning 4-3 comeback in the reverse fixture, it was still an important result as they got back to winning ways through Sean Giordmaina’s brace and a single goal from Nick Kerley.

The hosts went on the attack straight away and maintained a relentless press at the attacking end of the pitch throughout the opening 20 minutes.

That work up front resulted in the opening goal as Louis Bircham picked out Kerley with an excellent pass, and he finished well to break the deadlock.

Scott Brown’s header almost made it two in as many minutes for Jets, but they did have a second shortly after when Giordmaina, making his first appearance since returning to the club, kept his composure to slot home.

It was to be a doubly happy return for Giordmaina as, before half time, he robbed a Wembley defender just inside his own half and sprinted all the way before notching his second.

Having been 3-0 down at this point against Wembley last time, Jets will have been wary of a potential comeback from their opponents.

However, they never really posed any threat to Jets, although Aaqil Campbell’s strike on the hour did at least get them on the scoresheet.

The win leaves Jets eighth in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division, just three points behind fourth-placed Newport Pagnell Town.

Northwood lost for the fourth straight game in the Isthmian League South Central Division as Tooting & Mitcham United struck late to win 1-0.

Hady Ghandour notched the winner with three minutes left to down the hosts, who also had Bradley Kauzeni sent off.

Woods withstood a lot of early pressure from their play-off chasing visitors and could have taken the lead themselves had Luke Holness’ shot stayed down.

Going into the second half, Northwood looked the more likely of the two to break the deadlock, but their finishing continued to let them down, particularly from Holness and Harry Lodovica.

However, in the dying minutes, Ghandour capitalised on a slip from Charlie Hayford and he fired in an unstoppable strike to snatch all three points.

Sarratt surrendered a two-goal half-time lead to lose 4-2 at home to Pitstone & Ivinghoe in Division Two of the Spartan League.

William Bishop and Luca Rita both struck for the hosts to give them a comfortable advantage at the break.

Jack Downes scored a second-half brace for the visitors, though, who also netted through Joshua Webster and William Horne to go second in the table.

Elsewhere, Bovingdon are now winless in three game after a 2-1 defeat away at Codicote.

Drew Macfarlane’s goal ensured it was all level at the break as the hosts scored through Luke White, but substitute Anton Ashby-Mattis won it for them in the second half.

Leverstock Green put in a positive performance but were knocked out of the Herts Senior Cup on Tuesday night after a 2-0 defeat to Hitchin Town.

Green managed to hold their step three opponents until the 56th minute when Ben Walster’s cross was headed home by Dan Webb.

Hitchin sealed their passage to the next round with 11 minutes remaining when Jacob Hutchinson scored from the penalty spot.

On Saturday, Green ended a run of four Premier Division games without a win when they beat Dunstable Town 1-0.

Luke Peerless scored the only goal of the game after 56 minutes to move his side back above Leighton Town into ninth in the table.

Berkhamsted came from behind to beat Bedford Town 2-1 away from home in their Southern League Central Division encounter on Saturday.

Jake Newman opened the scoring for Bedford after 19 minutes when he netted the rebound after Xavi Comas had saved his initial effort.

Twelve minutes later, Berko restored parity when Jonathan Lacey’s ball was headed home by Alex Witham.

Early in the second half, the visitors found their winner when Lacey’s run into the area caused problems for Bedford, and Will Summerfield rattled home a loose ball.

The win keeps the pressure on Corby Town at the top of the table.

Berkhamsted Raiders are now winless in three after a 3-2 defeat to Mursley United.

Nathan Hawkins, Ben Wilson and Jack Bradford did the damage for the hosts.

After playing out a goalless draw with Edgware Town in the Premier Division on Saturday, Tring Athletic went through to the semi-final of the West Herts St Mary’s Cup after beating Glenn Sports 4-2.

Jack Bishop put Sports ahead before Aaron Jewell’s brace turned things around. Jack Read restored parity but Marcus Mealing’s brace secured the win for Tring.

Finally, Mill End Sports threw away a 2-1 half-time lead in the Herts County Second Division to lose 5-3 at Ware Sports Reserves.

Ben McCarron and Sam Douglas netted in the first half, while Joel Bell’s free-kick was the only high point after the break.
