Watford's FA Cup third round tie with Tranmere Rovers is set to go ahead as scheduled despite heavy rain from Storm Brendan.

A Liverpool women's match at Prenton Park was called off at the weekend after heavy downpours and further rain has fallen since then.

However, last night Tranmere's ground staff used a pitch covering system, which aims to keep further rain off the pitch and dry out the turf beneath it, in order to give this evening's match the best possible chance of going ahead.

The cover will remain in place until around 6pm when the referee will be able to carry out his usual pre-match assessment of the pitch's condition.
