Northwood were knocked out of the Middlesex Senior Cup on Tuesday night after a 1-0 defeat to Bedfont Sports.

Brian Testolin scored the only goal of the game after 21 minutes to sends Woods out of the competition.

Matt Hall came into the side to partner Azeez Alabu in defence in place of the injured Jordan Payne and the cup-tied Dominic Rhone. Also in the side was former Barnet goalkeeper Jamie Stephens, who has been training with Northwood as he recovers from a long-term injury.

Bedfont gave Northwood a lot of early tests as the visitors adapted to the 3G pitch. Stephens produced some good early saves, though and Charlie Malin also had an effort cleared off the line.

Despite holding firm, there was little surprise when Bedfont took the lead on 21 minutes as a swift counter-attack from the home side was smartly finished off by Testolin.

Sports continued to dominate the half but Northwood managed to see it through to the break without being breached again.

Woods now had the wind behind them and it almost assisted in getting the equaliser when it caught hold of Charlie Hayford’s free-kick and sent it whistling past the post.

Harry Lodovica and Enock Econgo were introduced with 11 minutes to go and the former went close with a 25-yard effort.

Despite their credible efforts, Woods were unable to find a breakthrough and it was Bedfont who went through to the next round.

Jamie Leacock’s side were also in action on Saturday as they travelled to Barking in the Isthmian League South Central Division, losing 2-1.

Woods looked to be on their way to a vital three points on 51 minutes when a corner from Charlie Hayford was met by a terrific diving header from Matt Hall to open the scoring.

However, on 85 minutes, Barking levelled from a corner of their own when Michael Dixon was left unmarked to convert.

Even worse for the visitors, Barking turned it around fully just two minutes later when Junior Dadson fired into the corner to leave Woods 17th in the table.

Oxhey Jets became the latest side to be beaten by rampant Spartan Premier Division leaders Colney Heath and they lost 4-1 on Saturday.

Andrew Sears-Black put Colney ahead after four minutes, but Jets levelled two minutes later when Reece Cameron struck back.

Jon Clements restored Heath’s lead on nine minutes and they went 3-1 ahead just shy of the half hour mark when Sam Doolan found the net.

Clements added his second before the break to put Heath out of sight, and that was how it remained throughout the second half too as the hosts maintained their six-point lead over Tring Athletic at the top.

Sarratt advanced to the quarter-finals of the Anagram Records Trophy after a thrilling 4-3 win against Hampton Town.

Marcus Rivers and Favour St-John scored a brace apiece in a topsy-turvy game which sets up a tie with Ruislip-based side Hilltop in the last eight.

Bovingdon fell to their third straight defeat in Division Two of the Spartan South Midlands League, going down 2-0 to second-bottom Buckingham United.

The hosts led 1-0 at the break thanks to Brandon Graham’s strike, and then after the interval former MK Dons youngster Kelvin Osei-Addo doubled the advantage to seal the points.

Jack Stevens’ late goal was not enough for Leverstock Green to mount a comeback as they lost 2-1 at Edgware Town in the Spartan Premier Division on Saturday.

Matt Fallon was forced into the first save of the day when he had to turn Theo Ofori’s shot around the post after he was set up by Adam Page.

From that resulting corner, Fallon was called into action again to keep out a strong header from Mark Burgess.

Green were mainly being limited to long-range efforts, and their final one of the half from Ollie Cox went the same way as the others – off target.

Edgware opened the scoring on the hour mark when Rio Beech pumped a long ball forward which went all the way through for Eisa Azab, and he sent an effort over Fallon and into the corner of the net.

Leverstock had a case for a penalty turned away four minutes later when it appeared Jamie Ovington was struck by an elbow, but instead Edgware went up the other end and doubled their lead as Ofori tucked in the rebound after Fallon had saved from Page.

Green were given a penalty with 10 minutes left when the referee spotted a push after a corner had been sent in. Stevens converted, but it was too little too late and Edgware held out to take the points.

Berkhamsted survived a second-half fightback from North Leigh to win 3-2 in the Southern League Central Division on Saturday.

Alex Witham put Berko into the lead when he converted Lewis Toomey’s cross, and the provider then became the scorer for the second as Toomey took his season’s tally to 24 when he converted from a corner.

Just before the break, Jonathan Lacey grabbed a third for the hosts to seemingly put Berko out of sight.

North Leigh hit back after the break though and got on the scoresheet when Callum McNish curled in a stunner.

Henry Landers powered in a header from a corner to pull a further goal back, but Berko managed to see the rest of the game out and hang on for the points.

Berkhamsted Raiders dropped down two places in the Spartan League Division Two as they were beaten 1-0 by Codicote.

Abel Mudimu scored the only goal of the game, while both sides finished with 10 men after red cards for Courage Chavhundara and Aiden Collins.

Finally, Tring Athletic remain six points behind leaders Colney Heath in the Premier Division after a 5-2 win away at Potton United.

Early goals from Abraham Eze and Sam Dowridge put Potton in front, but Tring hit back to lead 3-2 at the break and then scored twice in the second half to confirm the win.

Goals came from Louie Collier, Terry Dixon, Aaron Jewell, Frazer John and Marcus Mealing.
