Alex Jakubiak will be among some familiar faces after, as expected, joining St Mirren on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old was recalled by the Hornets earlier today from his previous loan at Gillingham and will now spend the remainder of the campaign with the Scottish Premiership side.

The striker previously played in Kent alongside former Hornet Lee Hodson, who has also joined the Buddies where the pair are set to line up alongside another Vicarage Road old boy in Stephen McGinn.

Jakubiak has previously spent time on loan in Scotland with Falkirk and he told the St Mirren website: "I spoke to the gaffer last night and I thought it would be a good move for me.

"I didn’t really have to think about it too much, it was an opportunity I really wanted to take up.

"I know what to expect. I’ve played at decent levels and I feel like this is the next step to get game time and prove that I can play at a higher level.

"I know Lee Hodson, Junior [Morias] and Stephen McGinn so that makes it easier in terms of settling in and I’m just looking forward to it now.

"I like to be creative and direct going forward. I can definitely score goals and that’s the main thing for me."

St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin said: "It’s another great option for us.

"Goals have been something that we have been crying out for and hopefully Alex is the man to give us that."

Jakubiak scored seven goals in 30 appearances for the Gills but left Priestfield after Gills manager Steve Evans admitted he could not make any guarantees over game time for the forward.
