Out-on-loan Watford striker Luis Suarez will not leave Real Zaragoza for Barcelona this season, although the Catalan club are interested in acquiring his services.

Barca are eligible to use a clause permitting Spanish clubs to sign players from other Spanish sides in the event of excessive injuries and they are now on the lookout for a striker despite the transfer window closing just under two weeks ago.

Currently, the La Liga champions have injuries to Suarez's Uruguayan namesake and Ousmane Dembele, who are both out for the remainder of the season and they are hopeful of bringing in a replacement.

Watford's Suarez has impressed this season with Zaragoza this season, scoring 14 times from 26 appearances in all competitions, and the Watford Observer understands an enquiry from Quique Setien's side has been made.

However, Suarez will not be permitted to leave the Segunda Division side this season, meaning any move would have to be made in the summer.

Watford's preference is for Suarez to return to Vicarage Road once his loan at Zaragoza comes to an end this summer, but after his performances during the current campaign, interest in the striker has increased and the right offer could persuade them to sell.
