Ronnie O'Sullivan was knocked out of the Snooker Shoot Out in the second round on Saturday.
'The Rocket' failed to recover after making a shaky start against Billy Joe Castle, ranked 104 in the world, at Watford's Colosseum.
O'Sullivan - who has yet to win the quickfire tournament - missed three pots, then fouled, before then hitting the black as he attempted to escape a snooker.
Castle took control and led 66-30 when O'Sullivan shook hands with him with little more than 30 seconds of the 10-minute contest remaining.
Earlier, Leeds veteran Peter Lines knocked out defending champion Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.
