The Watford Sunday League is urging all clubs and players to follow government advice on coronavirus, but they currently have no plans to cancel any games.
The Covid-19 outbreak has caused numerous sporting events to be postponed or disrupted worldwide, while both the Premier League and Football League have banned the pre-match fairplay handshake until further notice.
This action was also taken by the Spartan South Midlands League earlier this week, but this does not affect the Sunday League, although they will review the situation for cup finals nearer the time.
Following a request by the Watford Observer, the WSL has issued the following statement: “The League urges all clubs and players to follow the advice issued by the Government and the NHS.
“As our games do not have the mandatory “Respect” handshake prior to games we are not affected as some other leagues are.
“At the current time, we have no plans to cancel any fixtures or Cup final due to the virus.
"The committee will discuss cup final arrangements in which we normally do have a handshake introduction prior to the game, closer to the first final.”
